Martial Arts Actor Joe Taslim Came Into The Office And Suplexed Nate
We had martial arts actor Joe Taslim, star of some of the greatest action movies ever including THE RAID, in to promote his new movie THE FURIOUS. He was awesome enough to come with us to a gym to teach us how to give hits, get hits, and fall down without dying. Then he shot this entire action scene with us in a single take which was awesome.
Some production notes:
- KFC was so slow that I had to speed up his movements 130% to make them look even remotely plausible
- The first time I hit the mat, I think I concussed myself. I had a flash of insanely clear deja vu that made me freak out a little
- Marty holding his hat after going down like a fat guy pulling down his shirt made me laugh
- Editing this was VERY fun and I wish we did this earlier. Shotuout Fasoli on the gimbal cam as well as Minoli and John Kelly.
P.S. The Furious is 'legitimately' awesome. If you're into hand-to-hand fight scenes, this is the movie for you. The third act features a fight that is better than anything I've seen in the last decade.
