What's Next For Bivol? (or his dad)

2022's Fighter of the Year (according to Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Ring Magazine, and me), Dmitry Bivol, was in town last week to accept an award from a writer's association and to witness Josh Taylor get dominated by Teofimo Lopez at MSG.

While he was in town, he swung by HQ to give me an update on what is next for the WBA light-heavyweight champ, and I do my best to steer him away from my good friend, Canelo Alvarez.

I mention his dad in the title (and put him in the thumbnail) only because I got to meet Mr. Bivol for the first time, and even though he was never a boxer (he was a military man his whole life), he was some of the biggest mitts I have ever encountered.

(Which hand is the boxer's?)

Second only to former heavyweight contender Shannon Briggs…

Whose calcified fist looks like it is filled with more implants than a stripper's tit… But a LOT less lickable.

For comparison… Here is a stripper's tit(s)…

Giphy Images.

In reality, Matchroom's Eddie Hearn says light-heavyweights Anthony Yarde or Dan Azeez are up next for Dmitry in September… Two opponents no one cares about.  But hopefully, it leads to a unification bout sometime in early 2024 against the winner of Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Smith in August.

Take a report.
