Deontay Wilder Is A Fucking Liar

I think I am smart enough to know when I am being sandbagged, and 6'7", 240-pound Deontay "The Bronze Bomber" Wilder was clearly sandbagging the SHIT out of me before his WBC Heavyweight Title Eliminator fight this weekend against the 6'7", 250-pound Robert "The Nordic Nightmare" Hellenius.

Even though he's had a couple of other KOs sprinkled in, Deontay has been tied to the trilogy with Tyson Fury since 2018.  And after a full year out of the ring, I can't wait to see his triumphant return.

In our interview, he talks about how the layoff has given him heart and happiness, but I am not fooled for a second…

Deontay Wilder is not the most fundamentally sound fighter in the world.

(If that punch missed, he would've had his back turned to Breazeale.)

And Deontay Wilder is not the prettiest fighter you will see in the ring.

But what he IS is the hardest puncher in boxing right now.

(That's Willie Colon getting hit.)

And he is fighting THIS Saturday, October 15th, at the Barclay's Center… I will be there, but if you can't make it to Brooklyn, you can catch it on FOX Sports Pay-Per-View starting at 9 p.m. ET.

The Barstool Sportsbook has Deontay as a heavy favorite right now (-835), and I like Wilder by KO, but I also think it may take a couple of rounds to knock the carbon off his engine, so I am going to take the Over 4.5 Rounds at (-143).

Enjoy the fights and take a report.

I am going to break all of this weekend's fights down in greater detail tomorrow on Pick Central with Rico, Big Ev, and the boys.
