The #TrillyLegends Rollout Tour is HERE....
….is what I’ll be saying around this time tomorrow! But first, what a joy All-Star weekend was. I had not seen some of these characters in decades! The beauty of All-Star weekend is that close personal friends from all walks of life come through. We talked a little business with Matt Fish and Scott Rochelle. We finally caught our white whale and got a sit down with THE Fat Man. He could not have been a nicer human being. We saw each other later at the hotel and he held the elevator door for me. Wow! He’s a mensch, and living proof that meeting your heroes isn’t always terrible. It’s only terrible like 90-95% of the time, tops.
Dale Ellis and I recounted some of the battles we had when he was at Tennessee and I at Kentucky (and I don’t care what lie Dale tells himself, he pushed off to get a clean look for that game winner in the ’89 SEC championship game). We got a little bit of the music side with Nipsey Hussle. Here is something you might not know about Nipsey: he plays basketball at all times with a stack of $100 bills in his back pocket. He had complete faith that no one would touch the money and if a single bill were to fall out of his pocket, he knew that not a soul in the establishment would pick it up. I like that. We even got to talk about beating the people the fuck up with Charles Oakley, a man that has beat people the fuck up. The times were good, the people were better.
Tuesday 2/26 – Nancy Lieberman/ Matt Fish/ Scott Rochelle
Tuesday 3/5 – Dale Ellis / Sam Perkins
Tuesday 3/12 – Fat Lever / Theo Ratliff
As you can see from the schedule above, it appears we made TOO much content. We all went to Charlotte with the mindset of doing precisely one (1) content and calling it quits. Au contraire!!!! We did so much content, it would be artistically dishonest and unequivocally disrespectful to our CPFs to rush them all out at once. Here is our compromise: Every Tuesday for the next three Tuesdays, we will give you multiple contents. You’ve seen the tidbits on Twitter but they don’t do justice to the long form interviews where Oakley threatens to rob Coley, Theo Ratliff tells his children to shut the hell up and The Fat Man talking about how he decided which of his many iconic jerseys would be raised in the Pepsi Center for all of time.
If you accept our compromise, please send $20 to my personal Venmo. If you decline our compromise, please send $40 also to my personal Venmo. As you know, we keep meticulous records here and this is the only way to show how the people feel about our compromise. You have our word that we will never produce this much content again.
#TrillyLegends Tuesdays are officially underway…..starting tomorrow.
*Imagine that I am cutting comically oversized tape here*
