A Team That Humps Together, Stays Together. This Sixers Team Has Something Special
There's nothing quite like humpin' with the fellas. It forms the type of bond which can never be broken. You wave hello to strangers. You shake hands with mutual friends. You dap up your close buddies. But when it comes to your absolute boys? The squad you rock with the most in life? That is when you're gyrating your meat, and thrusting those hips. Because those are your dudes. It would be considered "weird" and "borderline inappropriate" if you were to greet some random acquaintance with an air hump. But when it's your boys? It would be weird and inappropriate to simply just shake their hands. You demonstrate how close of a friendship you have with someone by how homoerotic your behavior becomes. Everybody knows that. And this right here is what peak friendship is all about.
There have definitely been teams in the past that have won championships despite the guys on the team all hating each other. Kobe and Shaq didn't always see eye-to-eye. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen weren't exactly friends. Sometimes the talent on the roster is so elite that it can overcome a lack of chemistry between the players off the court. So I'm not saying that the only way for a team to win a championship is if all the guys sincerely love each other, want to play to the best of their abilities every night because they care so much about their teammates, and those vibes make showing up for work everyday that much easier.
But it sure as shit helps.

Winning obviously makes it a lot easier for everybody to get along. Do I think these guys would all genuinely enjoy being around each other this much if the Sixers started the season 1-8 as opposed to 8-1? I'd imagine not. But the good news is that we'll never actually have to find out. And the even better news is that by starting 8-1 and building up all this chemistry, it will make it easier to stick together if there are a few rough patches throughout the season. As opposed to literally every other season over the last 10 years of Sixers basketball where this team was one 3-game losing streak away from completely falling apart.
By the way, this guy is 41-years-old.
