Luke Hughes Is Doing Everything He Can To Make The New Jersey Devils Feel Like They Don't Need To Get Brother Quinn

It has to be at least a little difficult to be Luke Hughes. Sure, you're a professional hockey player. You're a 1st round draft pick. You're making $9 million per year. But as far as the hockey world is concerned, there are two Hughes brothers--Jack and Quinn. They are American heroes. They are the gold medal winners. They are hosting SNL. And then people say, "oh yeah, and there's actually a 3rd brother who is in the NHL, too!".

There's gotta be a fine line he finds himself walking between being incredibly happy and proud of his brothers' success, while also wanting to establish some for himself. But it'll be damn near impossible for him to do that if the New Jersey Devils go out and sign Quinn Hughes in free agency this upcoming summer. Do you want to play on the same team as both of your brothers in the NHL, or do you want to get yourself out of their shadows a little bit? I don't think it's a simple answer.

But if he keeps doing shit like this, the Devils can go ahead and save themselves the $20 million per year it would take to sign Quinn.

Ridiculous skating. As crispy of a snipe as you'll see this year. That's goal number 4 on the year for Luke Hughes, which is 2nd among defenseman in the league. He's only behind Evan Bouchard, who had a hat trick is the season opener.

Now granted, Quinn Hughes already has 15 assists this year. I never said Quinn isn't the better player. There's a reason why he's won a Norris, and is going to be making 20 per. All I'm saying is that as long as Quinn Hughes plays like a guy who deserves to make $9 million AAV, then the Devils are fine with just having 2 Hughes brothers on the team.

If there's one thing Jack Hughes is going to do, it's score a goal in a game where he lost a tooth earlier in the night. The white skates, the fishbowl, the snipe. It doesn't get more steezy than that.
