My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: De'Von Achane Out For The Year

As if watching the worst team ever assembled in NFL history wasn't enough, my fellow Dolphins fans now have to watch the remainder of the season without our best player. This season was never about winning, it was about developing our young core and changing the culture of this charmin soft football team. As bad as the Dolphins have been, the young talent has gotten better, and although we keep losing, this team never quits.

What I'm getting at here, is this season was never about De'Von Achane, unless you're a fantasy owner of his, nothing good could come from Achane playing all 17 games in a year where the team is clearly tanking. I honestly was hoping that Achane would have taken a COVID year and just sit the season out.

Obviously that's not the case, and when you're getting paid millions of dollars to play football is doesn't matter how bad your team is, you're playing. Which brings me to my next point. You never want to see your star player tear his ACL, but if he does, it's better that it happens in week 3 instead of week 18. Hence the title of my blog, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy: De'Von Achane Out For The Year."

I want to make it very clear I am not happy that Achane tore his ACL. I sincerely pray that he has a speedy recovery. However, if he was ever going to tear his ACL I'm glad it's in week 3 of a meaningless season opposed to tearing it in week 18 and forcing him to miss all of camp and the first couple weeks of the season.

And if I'm really being honest, this only helps our chances of not winning a single game and locking up the number 1 overall pick. Again, I'm not saying him tearing his ACL is a good thing, but you can find the positives in it happening now versus later in the year in a season where the team is designed to lose.
