There's Never Been A More Crucial Time To Develop A Backup Hobby Now That Every NFL Quarterback Is Getting Obliterated

The reality is starting to set in. I think every fanbase should be very cognizant of the fact that they are just 1 brutal hit away from their season being over.

It's week 2. We're not even in October yet, and Jameis Winston is now a starting quarterback in the NFL again. There's a very legitimate chance that Case Keenum is going to be starting a Monday Night Football game in Chicago. Jayden Daniels' elbow is al dente. At what point can you really expect all these fanbases to be bought into the full NFL season? Like what are Giants fans even supposed to do at this point? You can't honestly plan your entire fall schedule around watching Jameis Winston play quarterback for your team on Sunday afternoons now until January.

Now maybe there comes a time that so many quarterbacks get injured that the entire league is working with backup quarterbacks, and essentially the playing field is back to level. But preparation is the key to life, and it's always best to have options available to you. As critical as it is for NFL teams to have a reliable backup QB right now, it's equally as important for everybody else in America to develop a backup hobby. Because for most teams out there, Nick Foles ain't walking through that door. The moment you put your season in the hands of your backup quarterback, it's over. And you should really be able to enjoy your weekends in the fall rather than sit through 3.5 hours of shitty football every Sunday just because you feel like that's what you're "supposed to do".

Perhaps you could get really into woodworking. Just imagine a Sunday morning at your local Home Depot grabbing all the supplies. You come home, make yourself a quick lunch, and spend all afternoon out in the garage working on a project. By the time November rolls around, you have a full outdoor furniture set built to sit around the fire pit.

Maybe you get super into cooking. Instead of just ordering some slop for the game on Sundays, you spend the whole day creating a sensational dinner for you and the family that really sets the tone for the upcoming week. Maybe you want to be a little more active and you finally decide to give pickleball a shot. You've been shitting on it for years, but secretly you've always been interested in at least trying it out. Turns out you love it, and now you have a full Sunday available to play.

The point I'm trying to make here is that at any given moment, your quarterback could go down for the season. And from that point on, there's a good chance you have nothing but worthless football ahead of you. If you want to develop a backup hobby until after your quarterback goes down, then it's too late. But if you start finding it now, maybe you'll actually be able to make the most out of your October-January. You just never know when that hit is going to come.
