I Wish I Never Went to NYC

I wish I never went to New York City. All I’ve heard about NYC is how much it sucks, how big of a shit hole it is and how much the New York office sucks. I wish I never went because everything I heard about the city was wrong. I liked it better not knowing what it was actually like over there compared to how I feel about it now. I wish I never went because I now love the city.

Starting with the city itself, I’ve never seen anything like it before. The more I walked, drank and talked to some of the most beautiful women I’ve seen in my life, the more I realized I’d fit in like a glove out there. Yes, I went and saw Tommy’s cute little shack that he’s paying an arm and a leg for. But the more I walked around, the more I understood why you would pay so much to live in a tiny apartment. You’re not paying to stay inside your apartment. You're paying to live in the greatest city on Earth.

Personally speaking, I live off energy. The energy in NYC is contagious. It’s a drug I never knew I needed. I love people, I love life, I love walking around and seeing thousands of people in the streets. I love seeing every bar packed, lines of people outside waiting for a slice of pizza. That stuff doesn’t bother me, it feeds my spirit. I say this not as a knock to Chicago because I think Chicago is incredible. I say this because all I’ve heard about NYC is how it’s one of the worst cities in the world and that couldn’t be further from the truth.

As for the New York office, it’s a shame the amount of hate that place receives. It’s a shame that people look at that office as career suicide. The way it’s talked about makes you feel like you’re about to walk into Alcatraz. The notion that no one works there is borderline defamation. I walked around that office and all I saw was big studios with big shows that do a lot for this company. I think the only issue with the NYC office is how big it is. If they were to downsize and have everyone breathing down each others neck like they did in HQ 1, that office would be buzzing. The truth is, that outside of the big shows that go on here, the office is just as quiet as they think the New York office is. People look at our Chicago office like it's a coal mine, which just isn't the case. In fact, I think Titus even said that after the Yak ends, it feels like the work day is over. This is not a diss at the Chicago office, this is more so an endorsement that the NYC office isn't nearly what it’s made out to be.

Unfortunately, I made the decision to go and visit Tommy and now I have to live with this NYC bug I caught. Maybe it’s just puppy love after a quick 3 day trip and I’m still not over the nightlife and women that I met out there. But regardless I stand by what I’m saying. I love NYC and going there once again proved you shouldn't judge a city until you go there.
