YOU NEVER LEAVE THAT MUCH TIME LEFT ON THE CLOCK FOR JALEN HURTS TO END YOUR LIFE
Justin Ford. Getty Images.Let me tell you about the most important thing to know about sports. It's the fact that winner's win. No matter what, above all else, they simply find ways to win games. That doesn't mean it's going to be pretty all the time. It might not look perfect. But when the game is on the line and a "W" is hanging in the balance, there are certain guys who want the ball in their hands because they know they are going to come out on top.
Jalen Hurts is that fucking guy.
Nothing about this game made any sense. The first half was one team completely manhandling another. The Eagles had the ball in their possession for like 24 out of the first 30 minutes of the game. 3 long, sustained drives that went 10+ plays, and all went all the way down to the goal line. Unfortunately that first drive ended up with Jalen making one of his only awful decisions of the season so far by throwing a pick in the end zone. But the offense was playing keep away the entire first half.
They had everything going. Throwing over the middle, the run game got going thanks to Tank Bigsby being a bulldozer, the designed runs for Jalen, the deep ball. Everything looked great that first half, but the Titans were still just hanging around.
And that's going to be an issue for the Eagles. It was an issue last year, and it's going to continue being a massive flaw in their game moving forward if Nick Sirianni can't figure out how to get this team going in the 3rd quarter. Because any shred of momentum they have going into halftime just evaporates in that locker room. They look lifeless in the 3rd quarter. They had 5 total yards of offense the whole quarter, Tennessee ties the game up, and then obviously another Hurts pick allowed the Titans to take the lead late in the game.
Tough time for that pick to happen, but Hurts got crushed as he was throwing that ball. He's proven plenty of times already this season that he's a great deep ball thrower. He just got thrown off of that one, and it is what it is.
But young Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans still had a lesson to learn, and they had to learn it the hard way. Jalen Hurts is a winner. All he does is win. So if you give him 1:57 left on the clock, even without any timeouts, to work with? Well that is just entirely too much time. 1 minute and 56 seconds too much time, to be exact.
A huge catch on 3rd down for Dontayvion Wicks during that drive. Obviously the huge play from DeVonta Smith down by the end zone. And then the touchdown from Darius Cooper. Jalen was spreading the rock around, threading the needle, and delivered when he needed to.
That's what an elite quarterback does. That's the face of this franchise making up for his mistakes, and keeping the "0" in that loss column. Jalen Hurts is elite, and you have Play-Doh for brain if you disagree.
