NASCAR Driver Delivered One Of The Cleanest Punches Square To The Chin You'll See All Weekend
As someone who grew up north of the Mason-Dixon Line, I never really got a chance to get too into NASCAR. I can appreciate the skill it takes, and I know that it's a much more physically demanding sport than people will often give it credit for. But again, I grew up in a neighborhood where the homes don't have wheels attached to them, so NASCAR was just never something I followed.
With all that being said, the fighting in NASCAR is always top tier. There are always punches landing before the breakups and "hold me backs" start. It's not like baseball where guys are just pushing and shoving. It's not like football where guys are fully padded up. It's a fist connecting with a chin, the way that God intended.
While I don't know enough about NASCAR etiquette to fully understand what started this fight, I can imagine tensions are going to run high after one guy takes out the other on the track.
We've got this Carson Hocevar fella in the yellow, and Ryan Blaney in the blue. Now if there's one piece of advice I could give to Ryan Blaney as someone who has literally never watched a full NASCAR race in my life before, it's that you can't walk up to the guy who just took you out of the race with your chin on display like that. I'm not quite sure what he thought was going to happen, but he sure as shit didn't have "getting my shit rocked by Carson Hocevar" on his bingo card. He walked up hot as could be, and without a single thought of defending himself.
He throws the first shove, and then acted as if that was going to be the end of it. As if there would be zero return fire of heat-seeking fists aimed directly at his skull. Shit rocked once, shit rocked twice, and then saved by the cavalry coming in to break everything up. Credit to his ability to eat those punches and hop right back up. But that's a tough look to get spun out both on and off the track.
All in all, that's a solid 7.2/10 scrap right there. Would have been nice to see it go a little further with some back and forth. But you really can't ask for much more than 2 crispy clean connections like that. Hockey, box lacrosse, NASCAR. Those are the top 3 sports for a good ol' fashion scrap.
