BAN THE SLIDE - Kyler Murray Knocked Out Of The Game And I Am Back Banging This Drum

I'm sorry but WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DOING HERE!? I hate the Packers. I hope they get squashed. But this is one of those things that breaks my brain. Everyone (basically) in sports media is wrong about this except me. That's just the situation. I hope Kyler is OK as much as anyone, but this was his fault for trying to slide way too late AND EVEN JUKED INTO WHERE THE DEFENDER WAS FORCED TO CONTACT HIM AT.
But really... this is the NFL's fault. If they actually cared about safety, they'd ban the slide.
I said in my tweet the same thing I've blogged numerous times. Quarterbacks have zero clue when to slide and that makes sense because they're running fast one way while the defender runs fast the other. This shouldn't be hard to understand. To put it on the quarterback to know when that perfect time is to give up yards for safety is just categorically insane given the fact they have to put their head through the only legal hitting zone a defender has when not tricked by a slide. May as well put your dome on a tee for a defender with no choice but to hit you after committing his momentum. Everyone that says this is a dirty play has zero clue. Show me all the stupid still frames and slow mo replays you want. All you're doing is telling on yourself for not knowing ball. OH, he hit him with a forearm? What do you want him to do? Hands up don't shoot and take a helmet to the chest?
If you really think all these defenders want to give dirty hits in plain sight, cost their team, and get suspended I don't know what to tell you. Actually, I do. Stop being a moron. Please. Jumping to this being a defender's fault is some faulty system 1 thinking. Read a book. And does no one know what inertia is anymore? Why is everyone dumb about this except me?
Rant over. Again. All I can do is add this to my bookshelf campaigning for change! The NFL won't ban the slide until people start to raise a stink over this stupidity. It might have saved Trevor last year, or Kyler this year. You never know when your quarterback might be next!
