Michigan (-27.5) Fans Claim Saddest Field Storm Of The 175 Since 2019
Everyone give a round of applause for the Michigan Man. And the Michigan Lady. Never mind, they got it covered themselves. A 27.5 point favorite vs Western Michigan and there they all are enjoying life and having a good time after their army equivalent to the Laestrygonians (giants) from The Odyssey barely managed to take out the smaller, mismatched invaders.
All with the backdrop of the biggest clock controversy perhaps in the history of sports. You have Gene Steratore literally confirming on air that the TV and official clocks were synced and the replay guys clapping back to show they weren't. Cinema. Good on the replay crew at least for effectively saying "whatever happened, not our fault". Someone done and messed up, one way or another.
Never mind that though. 27.5 point favorite and fans storm the field. This is objectively funny. And you know what? Trust tree - I'm not even going to really hate on the kids doing this given how starved they were all game for their team to do anything outside the first drive. There, I said it. Maybe they did it in a way to give their team a backhanded compliment. Like when a baseball team or player gets a hit after going through a long drought and the crowd gives that excessive cheer.
Probably not. I know. Whatever. Let the kids have their fun. But we also get to have our fun at laughing at it all. Because it's still pretty sad.
Michigan has been gunning for this honor in recent years too. November 18, 2023 at Maryland they went on and did it ON THE ROAD as an 18-point favorite. But that was no match for Colorado on September 16, 2023 when future NFL pro bowl quarterback Shedeur Sanders avoided disaster as a 23-point favorite. Michigan never wants to be second-best. We all know that. So a tip of the ole cap is definitely warranted before we turn away and fall on the ground laughing.

It was quite the arduous task to get this far - but I'm determined to go the distance now. However far back is possible.
