Michael Jordan Finally Says Something Relatable To Everyday Joes

For those of us who grew up in the 90s, Michael Jordan is a mythical figure. Certainly if you are even older you can appreciate the greatness of Jordan very easily and understand why he is the greatest basketball player to ever live. If you are on the younger side, The Last Dance did a phenomenal job of walking you through the rise of Jordan from mere mortal to god-like status.

However, the reason I say Jordan holds a special place for us 90s kids is because we walked alongside his journey in real time at our most impressionable age. All of his championships, SportsCenter highlights when SportsCenter was appointment viewing, Dream Team, Be Like Mike, Space Jam, and Jordan sneakers hit us right in the exact moment when our brains were primed for a sports hero.

From there, Jordan went on to ascend to heights previously unknown by most athletes to where we are now with his involvement in NASCAR ownership, sport fishing, golf club ownership, and beyond. This is all a long winded way of saying that Jordan is unlike any other human on this planet. As such, none of us can relate to him.

Until now.

Now, I am not talking about the competitive nature of his personality. Plenty of folks are competitive. Some of us even have friends who punched his best friend because he didn't think there was enough beer in the beer pong cup. True story.

No, I am talking about that last line.

"No, I gotta get in the shower and get in the bathroom before she comes in so she doesn’t slow down my time that I can get to the golf course in time.”

Like Mike. If I could be like Mike. FINALLY! A relatable story. Hearing that Mike has to contend with his wife before he gets out the door to the golf course is something all of us golf-obsessed sickos deal with on a weekly basis. You've seen all the memes by now; the "signs your husband has a round of golf scheduled" and it's all the house chores complete with no piece of laundry unfolded or dish in the sink.

I am picturing Mike trying to hustle out of the house before his wife is hollering that he forgot to put his shoes away or the trash needs to be taken out before he can leave. Al Gore's internet tells me Jordan is worth $4.3 Billion and yet, his wife is the only thing standing between him and 18 holes of uninterrupted joy. Yes, he probably has a staff of people who do all sorts of stuff at his house but if he is trying to shower before his wife, that tells me there is something she holds his feet to the fire on before golf. Can you imagine the greatest basketball player to ever live slipping and sliding on his bathroom floor all to avoid his wife? Funny visual if you ask me. Dude is prepping for the $100K Nassau at The Grove he has this morning but he will probably be late to the range.

I guess what I am saying is that Michael Jordan and I are basically the same guy. Funny how life works out sometimes.
