In Defense Of Rico Bosco

I'm going to keep this short and sweet - leave Rico alone. Leave my close, personal friend Rico alone. Ok?

We've been in peace times for quite a long stretch now and it has allowed me to observe two undeniable facts.

1. The internet loves to pile on Rico

2. I completely* understand how Rico's brain works because of how similar our upbringings were in Jersey and Staten Island.

(*mostly)

Look at Rico here. The old junkyard dog would be jumping down people's throats talking himself into circles. Those sunglasses would be mangled. He would be snarling and drooling. New Rico though? Calm, rolling with the punches. Growth.

Along the lines of understanding Rico better than most, I knew exactly what he was talking about as soon as the word salad email came through looking for suggestions for the blog. My parents moved down the Shore back in 2016 and while it is their full time home, the bedrooms are not assigned to me or either of my siblings. We simply refer to them as the blue room or yellow room because that's how they are decorated.

According to Rico, those are fairly boring ways to decorate and describe the rooms. He's not wrong. Although, the one room has a picture of me in my football uniform on the dresser so it could be the Go Army room along the lines of Rico's thinking.

This is where I got upset with the internet and our other colleagues. Rico did himself no favors describing what he meant with his blog, but it wasn't hard.

I could see Rico's shore house having a room with all the collectible cups from the 1992 Dream Team on a shelf which would make it the Dream Team room. I could also see Rico blowing a gasket if you used one of the cups in the middle of the night after downing too many Spring Lakers because they are for display only.

Perhaps another one of his rooms has an 8x10 frame on the wall of the Arnold Family.

"You take the Wonder Years room," he would instruct me as I stopped over his house.

If he doesn't like you he probably sticks you in the Monae Davis room where this gif plays on repeat on an Aura frame.  No explanation needed.

You see, it's a simple premise and easily executable. He just needed me to help explain it to everyone. One small knick knack, design element, or color can describe a room. It doesn't have to look like the inside of a Buffalo Wild Wings or your basement man cave. However, everyone wants to make Rico the punching bag so they pick apart the idea. That's what I'm here for though. Foxhole guy.
