"Pure Verbal Hate": Apparently This Stanley Cup Final Is Filled With The Most Vile Shit Talk In Years

There's so much bad blood that can boil over the course of a 7-game series. But when you have two teams meeting in the Stanley Cup Final for the 2nd year in a row? When last year's series went to 7-games, after the Oilers clawed their way back from being down 3-0 just to lose to Florida in game 7? Obviously these two teams are going to hate the shit out of each other. They're playing in the biggest series of their lives, and all those guys wearing a different colored jersey than themselves are standing in their way.
These two teams are on pretty historic numbers as far as penalty minutes in a Stanley Cup Final go. It's no secret these teams despise each other. They combined for 140 penalty minutes in game 3 alone.
But now we're getting some word that the shit talk going on in this series is starting to cross some lines that aren't typically crossed.
Obviously there are microphones everywhere, but I'm sure most of these chirps will be left on the cutting room floor. There's shit talk that is for entertainment, but there's also shit talk that'll probably never see the light of day again. So unless you have someone come out and say exactly what has been said, we'll never know.
But that won't stop us from making some educated guesses. When they say "some subjects are off limits", I'd imagine that is references wives and girlfriends. Once you start to bring outside people into the fray, that's usually when everything would start to go haywire.
Guys like Evander Kane have had very public disputes with former girlfriends. It seems like he's taken a penalty in every game so far this series, so I'm sure the Panthers are going after him for that. Then you have a guy like Corey Perry, who won't just be getting chirped for potentially losing his 5th Stanley Cup Final in 6 years, but you might remember when he had his contract terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks for some off-ice issues. There were plenty of rumors going on around what those off-ice issues were, so I'm sure he's hearing plenty about it on the ice. Aaron Ekblad was suspended for PEDs, so I'm sure the Oilers are telling him to jab another needle in his ass.
There's definitely plenty of ammo to go around for both teams. I just wish we were all privy to what is getting chucked around out there. You can't tell us the shit talk is some of the nastiest ever, and then not tell us exactly how far past the line the boys are going.
What we really need right now is a hero who works on the TNT broadcast. Not somebody on the panel like Biz. But somebody who works on the live truck who is able to switch what audio feed we're listening to. Give us the full, uncensored feed for a few minutes during game 6 tonight. We can get a GoFundMe together to cover all the FCC fines they rack up. But we, The People, deserve to hear the chirps.
