Huge Win For Pickleball: Apparently The Dua Lipa Tour Just Plays Pickleball Non-Stop On The Road
BBC -- Away from the excitement on stage, Rose and her band have been enjoying some unusual pleasures whilst touring the world.
Speaking from a hotel room in Lyon, France, she said: "Me and the band are going to eat pasta downstairs and we have gained an obsession with pickleball.
"It's pickleball tomorrow and pasta tonight, that is the really glam life on tour with Dua Lipa."
So BBC did an interview with some artist who was touring with Dua Lipa. Don't know, don't care. All I do know is that I saw the words "pickleball" and "Dua Lipa" together in the same sentence. And if that's not the biggest win for the fastest growing sport in America, then I don't know what is.
Imagine one day you're out at your local courts playing some open play. The usual cast of characters are out to play. You've got 57-year-old Tom who constantly decides to lob the ball. You've got 63-year-old Barb who plays a good game, but that's until 65-year-old Dave decides to hammer the ball at her every chance he gets. They're looking for a 4th player, and you need to make the decision if you're going to get stuck playing with them all afternoon or if you're going to wait for some better players to come around.
All of a sudden, a tour bus pulls up. And not just any tour bus, but a tour bus carrying Dua Lipa on board.
You're never going to play a round of golf with Dua Lipa. She's not going to randomly show up to your pick-up basketball game. If you think Dua Lipa is playing tennis, you'd be sorely mistaken.
While the chances of you playing pickleball with Dua Lipa are certainly low, but they aren't a 0%. So if you've ever been on the fence about whether or not to give pickleball a try, that should put you over the edge right there. Start playing right now so that by the time she might have a stop on her tour in your city, you won't suck ass at playing pickleball. You don't want to be the guy who can barely even keep score correctly when her tour bus comes rolling up to your courts. You need that DUPR to be at least somewhere around a 4.2 with a high reliability score in order to give her a reason to play with you.
Sidenote: I'd win 11-0 and wouldn't feel an ounce of remorse.
