You Won't Find Anybody More Pissed Off After Winning A Playoff Series Than Connor McDavid

The Edmonton Oilers are now one step closer to their goal of winning a Stanley Cup after eliminating the Vegas Golden Knights in game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals last night. Kasperi Kapanen was the overtime hero to cap off a gutsy 1-0 win. That was back-to-back shutouts for Stuart Skinner and the Oilers to close out that series, so naturally the media wanted to talk about how the Oilers have developed into one of the best defensive teams in hockey as of late.

Connor McDavid couldn't be more disgusted with the idea of having to talk to anybody right now.

If the media thought that he'd be jovial and eager to ask any moronic questions they may have for him just because they won a 2nd round playoff series, they were sorely mistaken.

This is a man who knows at this point in his career, the only thing that matters is bringing a Stanley Cup back to Edmonton. He is singularly, laser focused on winning the Cup. He was 60 minutes and one win away from getting it done last year. He knows what it takes to get there, and he knows how far the Oilers still have to go before they're even close to finishing the job. And until that job is finished, there's no time for smiles or patting yourself on the back.

I always love the idea of some reporter going into the locker room with a great idea of what their story is going to be, only to end up getting chewed up and spit out by 97. They thought they'd get to perfect quote to go along with their angle about how the Oilers have been flipping the script and becoming a defensive juggernaut, only for that quote to be about how much of a dipshit idiot the reporter is for even asking the question in the first place. Good news about print is that you can just turn this:

"I mean how many times are we gonna answer this question, really? Honestly. It's frustrating that we keep talking about this. We can defend. We can. We've shown that time and time again. Come into a tough building and win a 1-0 game when it matters most. We can play that way, we can score goals, we can do whatever it takes to win games".

Into this:

"We can defend...We can come into a tough building and win a 1-0 game when it matters most. We can play that way, we can score goals, we can do whatever it takes to win games".

The tough part about video existing is you can tell how hard McDavid wants to throat punch the reporter for asking the question. Maybe just stick to yes or no questions with McDavid for the rest of the playoffs.
