The Winnipeg Jets Have 24 Hours To Denounce These Fans Who Made A Horrific Playoff Anthem, Or Else They're Going To Get Steamrolled In Round 2
If I've said it once, I've said it at least several dozen times before. Fans who take it upon themselves to create a "playoff anthem" for their favorite sports team are the most self-centered peckerheads in the Milky Way. They're taking a moment in time the whole city is excited for, and turning it into a cheap way to get some attention on themselves. At no point throughout the history of mankind has anybody made one of these "playoff anthems" that was actually any good. They are universally the biggest pieces of dog shit to ever exist. The type of song that makes consider the idea of walking over to your toolbox, grabbing the rustiest screwdriver you can find in there, and jamming it directly into your ears.
The Hockey Gods were merciful enough to spare the Winnipeg Jets in the first round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They were literally 2-seconds away from being eliminated in game 7 against the St. Louis Blues before Cole Perfetti sent the game to overtime, and Adam Lowry delivered the series clincher in 2OT. The Hockey Gods knew the Jets weren't to blame for this atrocity of of song. They know that Josh Morrissey wasn't involved with writing that piece of shit. So they figured they'd give Winnipeg a chance to redeem themselves.
The Winnipeg Jets have been given a test. Will they become the first team who is brave enough to tell their own fans that this type of behavior is unacceptable? To tell their fans that nobody asked for this song, and to never make another one like it again? If the Winnipeg Jets denounce these jabronis right now, there's a good chance that Connor Hellebuyck turns back into the best goalie in hockey and the Jets become the first Canadian team to win a Cup since 1993. But if they allow these fans to continue to not suffer any consequences, then the Stars steamroll the shit out of them in round 2.
The puck is in your zone, Winnipeg. Do the right thing, and don't make the Hockey Gods regret their mercy. Lest we forget the fate already suffered by the Ottawa Senators for the same infraction.
