Howie Roseman, General Manager Of The Century, Was An Absolute Demon In The Eagles Locker Room After Winning His 2nd Super Bowl
There will never be enough words to describe the masterclass that Howie Roseman put on with this 2024 Eagles roster.
This team was 2 quarters of football away from winning the Super Bowl in 2022. Honestly, they should have been able to close that one out if it weren't for the shittiest field ever created by man. But following the 2022 Super Bowl loss, Howie Roseman and the Eagles figured there wasn't necessarily too many changes they needed to make to the team. They replaced Miles Sanders with D'Andre Swift. They had a few minor adjustments here and there. But more or less, they ran back the same squad in 2023.
That team started off the season 10-1. None of the wins were overly convincing, but they were still winning nevertheless. And then...one of the most historic collapses in NFL history. 6 losses in their final 7 games. A complete and total catastrophe. The offense was a mess. The defense was a mess. Coaching was a disaster. The entire organization was in disarray.
So what did Nick Sirianni go out and do? Well for starters, he allowed Nick Sirianni to keep his job. Because while all of us fans were shitting on the guy left and right, he knew that Nick Sirianni was the glue that could hold this whole thing together. However, he knew he needed some help. So he hired Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio to be his offensive coordinators. Vic Fangio was up for assistant coach of the year this season, and Kellen Moore seems like he's about to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints next season. So clearly both of them did an unreal job this year.
He went out and signed Zack Baun to be a good depth addition to the defense. Turns out that Zack Baun was a 1st-team All-Pro, finalist for defensive player of the year, and had a pick in the Super Bowl. He signed Saquon Barkely, and Saquon went on to have the greatest season that any running back has ever had in the history of the NFL. Most rushing yards in the regular + postseason, Offensive Player of the Year, finalist for the MVP award, and a Super Bowl Champion.
He drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Both were finalists for Defensive Rookie of the Year in the NFL this year. And Cooper DeJean went on to have the biggest pick 6 of his life on his birthday in the Super Bowl.
Right before the season started, he traded Olamide Zaccheus for Jahan Dotson. He knew the Eagles had two elite receivers in DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown, but they needed to sure up that WR3 spot. Jahan Dotson was a yard away from all 3 receivers having a touchdown in this Super Bowl.
Two coordinator hires. One was up for assistant coach of the year, the other is taking a head coaching job next year. Two 1st round draft picks. Both were up for defensive rookie of the year, one had a pick 6 in the Super Bowl. Saquon had the greatest year out of any running back ever. Zack Baun was an all-time come up. Jahan Dotson gave the Eagles more confidence in the passing game. That's before you even take into consideration the draft picks of guys like DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Nakobe Dean, and most importantly Jalen Hurts. That's before you take into consideration getting guys like AJ Brown, CJ Gardner-Johnson, and Big Play Slay in the building.
