Bill Belichick Is Already Assembling A Roster Full Of Lacrosse Players In Chapel Hill

Everybody knows that UNC was a dream job for Bill Belichick. Not because he had this burning desire to coach at the college level. But because of its proximity to lacrosse greatness. The man spent damn near 50 years coaching in the NFL. He's been a part of 8 Super Bowl winning teams. Yet the one thing that wakes him up every morning is the game of lacrosse.

To be fair, UNC has been having a few down years as far as the lacrosse program goes. But they're still one of the top programs in the game, and they're always going to bring in one of the best recruiting classes year after year. UNC can go out and get any recruit they want. Which has to be intriguing for Coach Belichick, considering how much he loves having lacrosse guys on his rosters. Just someone to chop it up with during practice, and maybe toss the rock around with in the courtyard.

He's been in Chapel Hill for about 5 minutes at this point, and he's already loading up a roster full of 2-sport athletes. In the span of like 4 or 5 days, he already grabbed 3 lacrosse players for next fall.

Starting off with the best midfielder in this year's high school senior class, Gary Merrill.

Then the floodgates were officially opened. After that was Jermaine Anderson, a 4-star recruit in this year's senior class.

Now both of these guys were already committed to North Carolina for lacrosse, and Bill Belichick was just able to convince them to play two sports in Chapel Hill. But this next one might prove how having Bill Belichick around can completely turn things around for UNC's lacrosse team and put them back on top of the mountain again. Because they just got one of the best overall athletes in the 2026 class in Crew Davis.

Chris Hogan was a pretty decent lacrosse player. There's no denying that. But these guys are all some of the best in their class. Just think about the damage that Bill Belichick will be able to do when he has elite lax guys around him at practice every day. I sure as shit hope Ohio State didn't have any plans on starting a dynasty.

P.S. -- Last time UNC won the lacrosse national championship, Bill Belichick won another Super Bowl about 8 months later.
