Does Girls High School Basketball In Seattle Need Enforcers? Maybe So After This Brawl Broke Out At The End Of A Game
I'll be honest, I'm not overly familiar with the general landscape of greater Seattle area high school girls basketball. I don't know if Garfield and West Seattle have a longstanding rivalry filled with a history of highly contentious matchups.
All I can tell you right now, however, is that Garfield and West Seattle have just skyrocketed up my rankings of best rivalries in sports. Whether there was a rivalry between these two schools or not before this game, you can be damn sure that there's one now.
And I'd imagine that Garfield is going to end up winning a lot more of these battles moving forward. Not just because they won this game. But once that fight broke out, they immediately had two other girls coming into the fray with zero hesitation. Didn't even think twice about it. Just saw one of their teammates getting rocked, and got right in there. Not that I'd ever condone fighting in high school sports, but you at least have to be able to protect yourself and your teammates out there if anything goes down. The girls on Garfield get it. It took West Seattle a little too long to get that message for my liking.
