Leave Jalen Hurts' Offensive Coordinators Alone!

Jalen Hurts is a winner. That's not opinion, but it's simply a fact. Every single year that Jalen Hurts has been the starting quarterback, his team has gone on to the playoffs. 2016-18 with Alabama (yeah yeah I know Tua was the starter in 2018 but just go with it). 2019 with Oklahoma. Each of the past 4 seasons now with the Eagles. He's had one year since college where he hasn't helped lead a team to the playoffs, and that's because Carson Wentz decided to become the worst and most toxic football player known to man that year.

The issue with Jalen Hurts being such a winner is that he is constantly putting his play callers in a position to get a better job. He's had 10 play callers in the past 9 seasons. Lane Kiffin got the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic, Steve Sarkisian got the offensive coordinator job with the Atlanta Falcons, Brian Daboll got the offensive coordinator job with the Buffalo Bills, Shane Steichen got the head coaching job with the Indianapolis Colts. So far in his career, Shane Steichen has been the only offensive coordinator that Jalen Hurts has had multiple years with. The back half of 2021, and then the 2022 season. You guys remember how 2022 went?

The bottom line is that coaching Jalen Hurts has become a cheat code to getting a promotion. And next up on that list appears to be Kellen Moore.

It's bullshit, is what it is. All Jalen Hurts does is win, and his reward is the most inconsistency that anybody has had to deal with. He shouldn't have to go through the same thing year after year after year. Learning a new system, learning new terminology. By the time he's finally comfortable with the offense, his play caller is moving on to the next job.

All I ask is that teams around the league just have an ounce of compassion for the situation he's found himself in during his entire career. Just once, don't be so quick to request an interview with the Eagles' offensive coordinator to fill your head coaching vacancy. Realize that this man yearns for consistency, and deserves to have the same coordinator for multiple years in a row.

I'm starting to think teams are trying to rip the offensive coordinators out of Philly just because they fear how powerful Jalen Hurts would become if he had the same play caller for 3 years in a row. They can't afford to let that happen, so they'll hire Kellen Moore even if he wouldn't necessarily be their first choice. Better to just break them up now than have to deal with what they could do to the league together by 2027.
