Bryce Young Going From Getting Benched To Throwing The Coldest Touchdown Pass Of The Season Is Why America Loves A Comeback Story
Bryce Young was probably searching "Toronto" on Zillow back in September. If you asked anybody, they would have told you that he was one of the biggest busts in modern sports. 1st overall pick, has to stand on a milk crate just to see over his linemen, awful Carolina Panthers team, 2-18 to start his career, and benched for Andy Dalton.
But then you remembered how ridiculous things have gotten in the NFL over the last 10 or so years. There was a time when quarterbacks used to sit and learn and develop their first few years in the league. Sit behind a veteran quarterback, learn what it takes to be a quarterback at this level, and then get a chance to show what they have once that veteran QB's arms and legs fall off.
But nowadays there is so much money involved with these top picks. There are jersey sales and ticket sales that owners need to think about. They don't have the time, patience, or bank account to let a 1st overall pick just sit on a bench to start their career. So Bryce Young is thrown into the fire with a few gallons of gasoline doused all over him.
Sure, there are always going to be guys like Jayden Daniels who can come in and thrive right out of college. But then there are other guys like Bryce Young who might just need a little time to develop before throwing the coolest touchdown pass in the NFL this season. The "fuck it" levels of confidence you need to pull off this move are astronomical. One quick drop and you turn into a meme for the rest of eternity, right up there with Swaggy P. But Bryce Young is so back that he knew there was never a doubt. He can finally exit out of that Toronto Zillow tab that's been open on his computer these past few months.
