Matvei Michkov Has An Addiction To Scoring Goals In Overtime

The National Hockey League is filled with great hockey players. They are the top 1% of the top 1% of all hockey players in the world. So the truly incredible ones? The guys who are so special at playing this game that they are even able to separate themselves from the best in the world? Well they all have something that they're better than everybody else at.

For Matvei Michkov, it's being a cold-blooded assassin who is addicted to finishing games in overtime.

This kid is still just 19-years-old for a few more days. In the past 3 weeks, he's had 3 overtime winners. First up was November 14th in Ottawa against former Flyers legend Claude Giroux.

Last Saturday was OT dagger #2 against Connor Bedard.

And then he does the damn thing again last night against St. Louis. Teams need to start learning that you better put the Flyers away when you have a chance in regulation. Because if the game goes to 3v3 overtime, that's where Michkov thrives. Open ice, plenty of space to be creative, and he has that clutch gene in him that's unlike 99.999% of players in the world.

Those are pretty decent players on that list if you ask me.

Some guys are just born to be great. Some guys are just born to shine brighter when the moment gets bigger. We're just 23 games into Matvei Michkov's NHL career. A quarter of the way through one single season. And this is what we're already getting out of this sick bastard? Ovechkin currently holds the record for most overtime goals in a career with 26. The only reason I'd be worried about Michkov not breaking that record is because eventually the Flyers are going to be an absolute wagon and they'll be closing out too many games in regulation.

Sick player. Better teammate.
