Al Michaels Has Put Up Some Historic Career Numbers When It Comes To Ordering Steaks

I'm just going to ballpark it here, but I'd imagine the average person has somewhere between 5-10 steaks per year. Maybe you have 2 weddings, a couple of celebratory dinners, and then a few "just because" steaks. Some may have more, some may have fewer, but I think that's a pretty decent number to go with for the average.

Now let's say you're a sick bastard who eats an insane amount of steak. Let's say you treat yourself to a ribeye once a week. That puts you at 52 steaks for the years. 520 over the course of 10 years, 1040 for 20.

Al Michaels is out here putting up Wayne Gretzky numbers with 3,672 steaks. We're talking about numbers that we'll never see again in our lifetime. That's the same as eating a steak per week for 70 years straight. Al Michaels is 79 years old, so I suppose those numbers add up.

I just think it's always special to be able to witness one of the great ones with our own eyes. The Earth is a few billion years old. Humans have been on this Earth for a few hundred thousand years. And somehow we happened to be alive at the exact right moment in time to witness Al Michaels order 3,672 steaks. And not a single damn vegetable during that entire stretch. When we're dealing with steak stats, vegetables should be considered turnovers. 3,672 goals and not a damn turnover his entire career. Fucking legend.

And to think we'd probably never get this information if it weren't for the sports gods blessing us with Thursday Night Football. Just imagine the type of info we'd get out of the broadcast if there were Tuesday and Wednesday games as well. We'd probably know how many shits Gene Steratore has taken in his life.
