Claude Giroux Still Has Gas In The Tank And It's Pure Diesel

There are quite a few issues with the Flyers right now. The defense is really struggling, goaltending hasn't been great, and the forwards can't score and they can't win a faceoff to save their lives.

It's funny because if you look around the league you have guys like Shayne Gostisbehere scoring in 4 straight games for the Hurricanes. Alex Lyon just had a huge shutout for the Red Wings while Anthony Stolarz looks like a stud between the pipes for Toronto. And then you have Claude Giroux out there still doing stuff like this at 36-years-young.

Mama mia!

Handles the pass off his skate, immediately gets a stick on the puck and tucks it away right under the bar. Just a grotesque display of skill out of Claude Giroux, who still has the ability to be a 1C in this league even if he's playing on the wing in Ottawa. He's also the owner of the 21st best faceoff percentage in NHL history. Sure seems like the exact type of guy you'd want playing down the middle for the first few years of Matvei Michkov in the NHL as opposed to checks notes Ryan fucking Poehling.

He's on the final year of his 3-year deal he signed in Ottawa. The Senators are looking pretty good out of the gate so far this year with 4 wins in their first 6 games. But it's been 7 straight years without a trip to the playoffs for Ottawa, so who knows if this is the year they actually turn it around. He's got a No Movement in his contract but if it looks like the Senators are out of it near the deadline, you need to do everything possible to bring Giroux back to Philly. Laughton, Farabee, Konecny, you name it. Whatever the Senators want, they can get. But Michkov deserves to play on a line with Claude Giroux at some point in his career.
