There's Simply No Other League That Can Do It Like The NFL

There's a reason why football is king in America. And that's precisely because of moments like this morning. The opening Sunday of the season. You have folks all across the country waking up, putting on their jersey, going out to grab their morning coffee, and getting ready to watch nothing but 9 straight hours of football. But before any of the games even kickoff, you have an entire season's worth of drama unfolding all at once.

In Miami you have Tyreek Hill getting pulled over and handcuffed just a block away from the stadium for a traffic violation.

In Dallas you have Dak Prescott getting a record breaking $240 million contract extension.

In Atlanta you have the news coming out that Justin Fields will make the week 1 start at QB for Pittsburgh. And in Cincinnati you have Ja'Marr Chase declaring himself available to play at the last minute before getting the contract extension done that he's been asking for this offseason. All within the hour you had 4 major headlines hit the newswire.

Sure, golf saw Scottie Scheffler get arrested before the 2nd round of a major tournament this year that got the attention of the entire sports world. But the same hour that someone became the highest paid player in league history? All while we officially open up a quarterback controversy in Pittsburgh? No chance.

But that's just what the NFL does. Maybe it's all actually scripted, maybe it's not. But either way, there's no league in sports that finds a way to suck you in and become the greatest reality tv show to hit the airwaves like the NFL does. The most drama we'll get out of the NHL season is that a player will get in trouble for getting caught on a hot mic using a slur. The NBA's drama is a little too 'Real Housewives' for my liking, and I'd imagine most people are getting sick of their antics. The MLB gives us a few good cheating scandals every now and then, but it's still too boring to keep up. The NFL just finds a way to constantly bring it. And if this is how opening week goes, I can only imagine what's left in store for the rest of the year.
