Big T's Willingness To Skip A Sibling's Wedding To Watch College Football Is Childish Behavior
By now I'm sure many of you saw this clip and had a chance to come to your own conclusions. In the spirit of hearing the man out, Big T expounded on his thoughts in this blog:
I think it's important to point out the differences between myself and Conner
- He spells his name incorrectly
- He is 20something years old. I am 39
- He is from the South. I was proudly born and raised in Jersey.
- I played and coached (grad assistant) college football. I have no idea if Big T has ever worn a helmet.
- He's attended 2 weddings in his life and I've been to over 70 including my own.
That's all to say I bring more perspective to this discussion. Not to mention, lest we forget I am the foremost authority at Barstool when it comes to weddings having won the Weddings Snake Draft.
Ok the table is set.
Credit to Mad Dog and Mackenzie for jumping on Conner right away when he said he would skip his own sibling's wedding for a good college football slate. Further, my pal Kelly backed them up.
Bearing in mind today's divorce rate in this country, a wedding is a once in a lifetime event. Not to mention, the amount of months leading up to that day that require extensive planning. I agree that the cost of weddings, especially in the northeast, is obscene but that's the world we live in so we have to be mindful of that as well. However, it is a big important day, perhaps the biggest day of your sibling's life, and Conner says he prefers to sit on his couch and watch football instead. I appreciate that his job requires him to watch cfb but family takes precedence over everything.
In the South, cfb is king and I appreciate that. What can I say, they don't have much else going for them. I agree that you should avoid planning your wedding for fall if possible. But what Conner fails to realize is sometimes the couple's hands are tied for a myriad of reasons be it work, cost, or availability in general. You do your best to accommodate your guest list but who in their right mind thinks they can accommodate 100+ people?
The date in question absolutely has a monster slate of games on that day but I can promise you one thing, it is not the last time a Saturday will have a monster slate of games. In fact, each season has multiple Saturdays that are monster slates. Year in year out, there are monsters.
Here is the part that is going to sting - if you live your life to the point that sitting on your couch is more important than major life events, you're a loser. I'm sorry but it's true. I love football more than many folks I know. I am a diehard Army fan. But I also understand you cannot skip your sibling's wedding. Imagine that convo at the wedding,

"Oh where is Conner?"
"He's at home with grease on his t shirt sunken into his couch."
Embarrassing.
By all means, spend every Saturday and Sunday watching football if you're so inclined. Football is the best and Connor isn't wrong when he says we only get 12 Saturdays per year to do just that. However, if you think you're going to miss your sibling's wedding…grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula. As Kelly said, that is not normal behavior.
