John Kruk Uses Trea Turner At-Bat To Tell Crazy Story Of What A Guy Did To End Up In Prison After Catching His Girlfriend Cheating On Him

Upset of the century that Castellanos wasn't up at the plate for this story.

You can say what you want about guys on the broadcast not needing to have played the game at a high level to really understand the game, but they sure as shit won't have any stories like this. You might not have needed to play in the MLB to be a great analyst of baseball, but Buster Olney never played a winter league game against a prison team in Mexico. Joe Davis never had to step up to bat lead off against a dude who burned a car with his girlfriend and the dude she was sleeping around with in it after finding out that she was cheating on him.

So during a 5-0 ballgame in the top of the 7th while there ain't shit else to talk about, they'll never have this story loaded up in the chamber to tell. But John Kruk is a lifer. He has stories for days and he just so happened to choose this one to tell during last night's Phillies broadcast. All things considered, I'm sure NBC Sports Philly wishes that he hadn't told this story. I'm sure that T-Mac would have preferred if he didn't have to navigate his way around some casual domestic violence conversation during a late night blowout in San Diego. But that's what you're going to get with Kruker, for better or worse.

Great hit from Turner, by the way.
