Truthfully Speaking, Kliff Kingsbury Is Simply Too Hot To Coach In Philadelphia

For the 2nd year in a row, the Philadelphia Eagles are going to go into a season with new coordinators on both sides of the ball. That's what happens when you turn into the worst football team in the league over the last half of the season and lose 6 out of your final 7 games.

This team couldn't buy a stop on defense, so you had to kick Sean Desai and Matt Patricia to the curb. Was it Howie Roseman's fault that this team had a bunch of Radio Shack cashiers on the roster trying to play defense? Sure. But that doesn't mean Desai and Patricia get to keep their jobs. The offense was the most pathetic, predictable offense you've ever seen with zero creativity and zero interest in adapting to anything a defense was throwing at them. So you had to fire Brian Johnson. Was it technically Nick Sirianni's that was handcuffing Brian Johnson's ability to make any changes? Maybe. But that doesn't mean that Brian Johnson still gets to keep his job.

Either way, Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman have spared Nick Sirianni's job just as long as he completely shakes up his staff. One name on that list for a potential shake up is none other than Kliff Kingsbury.

Now don't get me wrong. Personally I'd love the move. He's a young, talented offensive mind who just wasn't cut out to be the head coach in Arizona. That doesn't mean that he can't be a great offensive coordinator for a team that has a ton of talent that just underperformed like crazy last season. Kliff Kingsbury could be a great fit for this offense. HOWEVA….I just don't see Kliff Kingsbury being a great fit for this city.

You see…the thing is…Kliff Kingsbury is too hot for Philly. I'm sorry but it is what it is. I love Philadelphia with all of my heart. I think it's the greatest city in the world, and I will die for this city. But Philly isn't a place for people like Kliff Kingsbury. Philly is the land of personality hires. Philly is a town where people like Big Dom become folk heroes because they're down to either fight or crush a hoagie at any given moment. Kliff Kingbury has spent his coaching career so far in the state of Texas, California, and Arizona. He's a warm weather guy who likes to keep a nice glowing tan on his face. There aren't any homes like this for Kliff Kingsbury to live in Philly.

So there would really only be two possible scenarios that would play out if Kliff Kingsbury were to get hired in Philly. Either 1) the coach and city would be such a disastrous fit that the whole thing would blow up and the Eagles would somehow be worse next season on offense than they were this year. Or 2) he'd do perfectly fine as the OC for this team but so ready to get out of Philly that he'd take any single job offered to him somewhere warm at the end of the season. Then the Eagles would be back in the same predicament that they find themselves in right now. Rinse & repeat.

Moral of the story--the Eagles need to make a personality hire at OC. Give us a dude with a little extra weight around the hips and a less defined jawline. Those are my type of guys.
