I Hope The Philadelphia Flyers Are Proud Of Themselves For Ruining Frank The Tank's Christmas

The Philadelphia Flyers men's professional ice hockey team is currently buzzing their goddamn faces off. Much like Hansel, this team is so hot right now. They're 7-1-2 in their last 10 games, and haven't lost a game in regulation during the entire month of December so far.

Last night they made their first trip to New Jersey this season before the Stadium Series at MetLife against the Devils in February. A good chance for Devils fans to get the opportunity to witness this Flyers team in person, and maybe enjoy an overpriced chicken sandwich while they're at it.

Now as previously mentioned, the Flyers are on a heater. They are in 2nd place in the Metro division, 3rd place in the conference, and they're doing it without a single player in the top 50 in points this so far this season. Meaning that everybody is getting in on the action. Last night it was the pride of Lakeville Minnesota, Ryan Poehling, with 2 goals on the night.

A turnover from Jack Hughes, which we'll have more on that in a moment, followed up with a spicy little give n' go between Poehling and Farabee, and then Ryan Poehling snipes the tits off of Vanecek. It was a sick play, for sure, but this team wins hockey games because they grind their asses off. It's not always going to be highlight reel goals, but it's just wearing the other team's skill guys down to the point where they fall apart.

Like when Jack Hughes fell apart in overtime and gave this puck away to Owen Tippett at the blue line.

That was 2 assists on the night for Jack Hughes on Flyers goals. Talk about padding the stats.

So it was another gutsy win for the Philadelphia Flyers. Which means another heart breaking loss for the Devils faithful. Some Devils fans were so sick from that result that they literally vommitted on their way out of the Pru.

And for other Devils fans out there, Christmas might just be cancelled at this point.

The Flyers are a team who came into this season with the expectations that this was going to be a rebuilding year. And now they're out there ruining Christmas for opposing fans? It's just not right. I hope they're proud of themselves.

Sidenote: Nice little Christmas present for Flyers fans will be watching Cutter Gauthier lead Team USA to a gold medal at the World Juniors next week. WJC Group B preview blog coming up later today. Here's the Group A preview blog to hold you over until then.
