Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Hockey: We Had The Fight Of The Decade Go Down In The AHL Last Night

NOW THAT'S A HOCKEY FIGHT.

Heck yeah, brothers. Alex Gallant of the Calgary Wranglers and Jeff Viel of the Manitoba Moose. Just a couple of heavyweights going toe-to-toe. Nobody gives a shit about defense. Nobody gives a shit about protecting themselves. Just a couple of big, mean men chucking bombs back and forth.

You don't see anything like that anymore. Most fights these days are mostly just jersey grabs and take downs. You'll see a few heavy rights thrown once in a while, but rarely do you get guys just standing in the pocket and going to town on each other's face. AT CENTER ICE, no less. The theatrics. These are showmen out there. They know what the people came to Canada Life Centre to see, and they were going to give them exactly that. I counted at least 40 punches thrown in like a 15-second span. What a couple of legends.

And by the way, clearly this ain't either of their first rodeos. But it's especially not Alex Gallant's first rodeo, as he already gave us an unreal tilt in last year's AHL season.

Jeff Veil has already played a decent amount of games in the NHL over 3 seasons with the Sharks. Alex Gallant is yet to make his NHL debut with the Flames. All I'm saying is that this kid has earned himself a call up. At the very least, you need to bring him up for the Battle of Alberta each year. I don't know anything about his actual hockey skill. There's a good chance he'd get absolutely obliterated if he ever ended up on the ice at the same time as McDavid or Draisaitl. But this sick bastard can chuck 'em like no other, and that's what the people want in the Battle of Alberta. Make it happen, Craig Conroy.
