There's Been A Massive Outbreak Of Idiots No Longer Using Their Turn Signal, And Society Needs To Get This Under Control Right Away

Out of all the advancements made in car technology over the years, I'd argue that nothing has been more important than the turn signal. Power steering is great, but maybe you should just go to the gym more. Air conditioning is sweet, but you can just drive fast with the windows down. Assisted parking is for jabronis who probably shouldn't be driving in the first place.

Basically every advancement in car technology has been selfishly made with the individual driver in mind. But the turn signal? That was made for the collective. A way to be courteous and considerate to all the other drivers on the road by alerting them of when and where you're about to slow down to make your turn.

Over the past few weeks/months, it appears that almost everybody on the road has devolved into a complete and total piece of shit. Every time I'm in my car, it seems, there are hoards of assholes making turns with reckless abandon and zero regard for anybody else on the road. It's not everybody, but it sure as shit starts to seem like it after a while. And maybe this is just a me thing. Perhaps I'm just envisioning something that isn't there. But I don't think that's the case. And I feel like if you're someone reading this blog right now who hasn't noticed a massive surge of absolute buffoons on the road flat out refusing to use their turn signal, you'll start to notice it right away.

People no longer using their turn signal isn't just an issue on the road. Don't get me wrong, it's beyond infuriating to be waiting to cross at an intersection only to have some dickweed turn your direction at the last second without putting their blinker on. You could have went, but now you're still stuck waiting there like a moron. But it represents a bigger shift in society. As the years keep passing by, humans are getting worse. Selfish, arrogant, insufferable pieces of shit. The turn signal was one of the last remaining staples of our culture which proved we are capable of thinking about anybody besides ourselves. The moment we lose the turn signal, we lose humanity. And sure, we probably don't have too many years left of people actually driving anyway. Soon it'll all be self-driving cars or folks just staying inside forever on virtual reality. But in these last few years we have remaining, we desperately need the turn signal. At the very least, it's a way to let others know you're about to make a turn. At the very most, it's a flashing beacon of hope for the future rooted in the past.
