I don't know if I'm just getting old. I don't know if I've just watched the Clint Malarchuk video too many times. But all I know is that if you're going to have razor sharp blades attached to your feet, it's always best to leave them on the ground instead of flying and flipping through the air. That's just one man's opinion.
But out of all the ways to go out, I guess this seems pretty rad.
Sure, you might slice off 3-4 fingers. But that's why you have 7 more. I'm just not sure if the Zamboni driver will be thrilled about having to deal with the pool of blood in the middle of the ice if one of these dudes fell.
With all that being said, I would love to see these ramps get implemented into hockey. Imagine setting up a breakout in your own zone and you have McDavid going full send off a ramp on the blueline. Chuck some sauce through the neutral zone, he catches it midair, hits the landing ramp on the opposite blueline and goes in on a quick breakaway. Not that the current situation of sending McDavid on a breakaway is much different than that. But you get the point. It would be like the hockey equivalent of SlamBall.
