Is Arizona State The Holy Grail Of College Hockey?

This week on Spittin’ Chiclets we were joined by Tyler Busch and Johnny Walker, both members of the Arizona State hockey team and after talking them for about two minutes it was clearly evident that these two kids live the life. Not only do they get to attend one of the best party schools in America, while basically living on a resort, but they also get to play hockey there. And after a huge weekend beating one of the top teams in the country in Penn State, it’s time to ask the question….is ASU the holy grail of college hockey?

In a simple answer…yes. I really shouldn’t have to explain it either because of how simple it is, but I will anyways. Like Busch says when Whit asks, they basically live on resorts. It seems like it is spring break year round on a campus like ASU, except the hockey players get to spend 2-3 hours a day in the hockey rink playing the greatest game on earth.

“But let me ask you something, why’d you want to play college hockey?”

“….isn’t it obvious? For the girls.”

It really doesn’t get any better than the girls at ASU. That’s why the ASU barstool is one of the worst/best follows on Instagram. It makes you hate yourself every day for not going to school there and it’s the best because, well, the hot girls.

As a senior in high school or as a kid up in juniors somewhere in Canada and you get two letters, one from some school in Minnesota or Wisconsin, or a school like Arizona State, why would anyone even think twice about choosing ASU?  It’s the easiest decision on the planet. You get the sun, the parties, the girls and an opportunity to be apart of something really special under Greg Powers and not to mention they are flying on private jets to go to games….college kids on PJs. You’d be a fucking idiot to not go to Arizona State.

The ASU hockey program is on the verge of something special though. Less than five years ago they were a club hockey team and this past weekend they went into one of the toughest environments in college hockey and beat one of the best teams in Penn State. Imagine winning the first national championship in school history at ASU? You’d go down as an ASU god. The team is 7-3-0 on the year and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. Not to mention they have the top goal scorer in the entire country in Johnny Walker, who joined us on Chiclets this week.

So, If you’re playing juniors or you’re a high school who has the ability to play D1 hockey and Greg Powers calls, you answer. You’d be an idiot not to.
