Watch: Danny DeVito & Colin Farrell Interview Each Other For 50 Minutes Covering 'The Penguin', How Michelle Pfeiffer Is a Goddess, 'Always Sunny' Being 'I Love Lucy' On Acid And More Greatness

(Variety) -

DeVito: Who was your Catwoman?

Farrell: Zoë Kravitz. I did a couple of scenes with Zoë. Only briefly. She was wonderful.

DeVito: I had Michelle Pfeiffer. I’m not comparing anything, but I’m just saying, she was a goddess. If I knew she was going to be in a scene that day …

Farrell: Did you brush your teeth that morning?

DeVito: I got all flushed. Put extra makeup on — “Give me another pound of makeup.” It was very difficult.

Farrell: I’m going to watch “Scarface” tonight. How’s it to work with her?

DeVito: Just so wonderful. And I lusted after her.

Farrell: We’re moving on from your lust. Just tell me what form did the lust take, behaviorally?

DeVito: It was Oswald that was lustful.

Farrell: Was she nervous working with you? Did she call security? Did she say, “Tell him to stop stirring the sauce”?

DeVito: I kind of feel like she liked it. She liked Oswald.

These 'Actors on Actors' interviews can be very hit or miss, but man when the conversation is flowin' and it's 2 people you really dig watching in any form of media, it really doesn't get much better. Perfect relaxing videos for the late night snooze routine too.

I've also enjoyed getting surprised by some actors I really didn't fuck with, but ended up seeing a new angle of by the end of their chop session. It must be weird as hell to be an endlessly famous person who does infinity interviews as some Patrick Bateman-esque, PR driven robot that isn't allowed to convey real emotions. Or their genuine thoughts on anything outside the lines.

No doubt that just about everyone in Hollywood has to pay the piper and put on a good face to sell some tickets... But getting to let your guard down around a fellow peer thespian? Must feel like such a giant relief to them. And it shows!

And you can really tell when a younger actor truly did look up to an older actor throughout their career. I mean who wouldn't want to sit down with Danny DeVito for a hour and listen to anything he wanted to talk about? I know I do. Same as Mr. Farrell.

You can click the Variety article for a partial text version but I highly recommend the whole damn video. Granted I'm a Dan DV superfan and there's not many humans alive or dead cooler than Colin Farrell, so this was all extremely up my alley.

Especially the bit about 'Always Sunny In Philadelphia"

Farrell: I want to know about working with penguins

DeVito: I went down to the zoo in San Diego, and they let me in the back to go hang out with the king penguins.

Farrell: I love the serious actor — you research.

DeVito: I’m all bundled up, went in there, smelled to high heaven. They don’t worry about shitting all over the place.

Farrell: Tell me about Philadelphia. It’s always sunny.

DeVito: What a transition!

Farrell: Fuck “The Penguin”! I want to hear about when you started it.

DeVito: We’ve been together for 20 years.

Farrell: I’ve seen a bit of it because I knew I was talking to you. I might’ve just watched some of your stuff: Danny DeVito’s best moments.

DeVito: You’re a good boy.

Farrell: You’re amazing in it, but it looks bold. Anarchic and fun, and you can go wherever you want with it.

DeVito: You pretty much can. You can go anywhere you want. I love it. It’s not the same thing as what you do with the Penguin, or what I did with Oswald. Oswald, I stuck to the script. There’s no riffing.

Farrell: “It’s Always Sunny.” It’s just about the chaos and the madness of being a human.

DeVito: I always looked at it as “I Love Lucy” on acid. You could do anything you wanted.

Farrell: It must be one of the most fun jobs you’ve had for the looseness and creativity and lack of preciousness. I mean that as a virtue. And it’s shot in Philadelphia?

DeVito: No, it’s all here. It’s in California, where we should make more movies and television.

CAN'T WAIT for the 17th(!) season of Sunny coming in July, goddamn amazing & unbelievable it's ended up as the longest running sitcom in TV history.

If Danny doesn't listen to his kids (who loved Season 1) and add some nuclear juice by joining S2, who knows what happens there. A lot less laughter in the world that's for damn sure.

And if you haven't watched Colin Farrell's version of 'The Penguin' on HBO whew boy you are missing out. It's like The Sopranos in Gotham City, except you don't need to know or care anything about Batman to vibe with this TV show. Not a lot of successful seasons out there with a giant bonafide scumbag as the protagonist, and yet you somehow root for him too. Shows the power of how skilled Farrell has gotten in his craft.

And also, there's Cristin Milioti who should win every single award possible for her performance as Sofia Falcone. aka THE. BAD. BITCH./Catwoman's Half Sister

We need her getting in the next 'Actors on Actors', for everyones sake. Check out her chatting with Colin Farrell below along with his full makeup process to become Oz Cobb, attorney at law. Just kidding he isn't a lawyer, but he does fuck with the law a lot.

Thanks for blazing that arctic trail Danny! You remain a legend and the most beautiful human alive. With or without an egg!
