Tank's Ballpark Tour: Progressive Field home of the Cleveland Guardians

Progressive Field opened in 1994, revitalizing the city of Cleveland and its baseball team. Called initially Jacobs Field, the Cleveland Indians ended a 30-year drought and played in the 1995 World Series. Jacobs Field was the second of the new-age, modern throwback ballparks, following the opening of Camden Yards in 1991. It replaced the cavernous Cleveland Municipal Stadium that had been home to the Indians for six decades.

When I visited in 2024 and threw out the first pitch, Progressive Field was undergoing renovations. To upgrade and modernize parts of the ballpark to keep among the top parks in MLB. Renamed the Cleveland Guardians in 2022, the city of Cleveland hungers for a World Championship, as they have been to three World Series since Progressive Field opened, losing two seven-game heartbreakers.
