It's The Year 2024 And The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Is STILL The Greatest Video Game Of All Time

I'm going to do my absolute best to avoid any spoilers for this week's episode, but on the heels of drafting 25 video games we'd "want on a desert island", I had to make a statement:

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the greatest video game of all time.

Period.

The story. The songs. The strategy. The difficulty. The ending. The spookiness. It has EVERYTHING a video game can ask for...

...aside from a multi-player setting, which doesn't matter, considering these are games we're bringing to a deserted island. As in we're alone. That's a dumb technicality though and we weren't about to not draft Goldeneye, Warzone, etc. but the point remains.

Zelda is perfect. PERFECT. It's so perfect that I personally can't adequately put it into words:

First of all, Ocarina of Time revolutionized the gaming industry. Per google, it was the first game with lock on targeting mechanics. It also introduced a day night cycle and weather patterns, which made the game world feel like it was fucking alive and that you were actually in Hyrule:

But it's the storyline that makes it perfect. I'll say this 100x probably throughout this blog.

It's a timeless tale of a young hero named Link, who embarks on an epic quest to save the land of Hyrule from the evil Ganondorf. Along the way, he makes friends, learns new skills, and even travels through time. The narrative is filled with memorable characters, emotional moments, and plot twists that keep players engaged from start to finish.

That paragraph in and of itself should be enough to sell you. But if it's not, let's talk about the next best part of OoT:

THE SOUND TRACK!!!!

Not only are the songs in Ocarina of Time catchy as fuck and insanely memorable, but they also play an huge role in the game itself, as Link must learn to play various melodies on his ocarina to progress through the game. THEY TIED THE GODDAMN SOUNDTRACK INTO THE GAME PLAY!!! Incredible.

Any time I am having trouble sleeping I just throw Epona's song on loop on my laptop and turn my screen off. Boom, asleep.

All in all, and in spite of what my idiotic coworkers say, Ocarina of Time legit set the standard for adventure games and has influenced countless games that came after it. No, I'm not going to back that statement up with any facts because I don't know if it's actually true or not, but I assume I'm like 99% correct.

For real though - It's a true masterpiece that has stood the test of time. I'm starting a new Twitch stream in the coming weeks and will be streaming that, DK64, Goldeneye, etc. More info on that later.

That suffices. Listen to the draft and vote for me this week:
