Cam Heyward knows what it means to be a Steeler. The 2011 1st round pick hopped on with me and Willie Colon last night to talk about just that, what he thinks of the Steelers draft so far, and how you officially become a Steeler.
As a 10-year vet, what's his thought process when new, young maulers come in to battle on the practice field every day?
"I think about how when I went in they all jumped me at the first practice!" Heyward said. "I've heard about Tunch Ilkin and how they would go against Mean Joe, and Mean Joe would not let up against those fools. So there's a right of passage to play Pittsburgh Steelers football."
A guy like Cam is the perfect example of why I would never, and more importantly why the Steelers, would not be ever ready to throw in the Terrible Towel and tank to get a QB or some shit like that.
You can't sit around and waste away the backend of a dude like this career. He's too important for the culture and for the legacy of what it means to be a Steeler.
