Rashaan Evans Says Derrick Henry Strong-Armed The Titans Into Drafting Him

Welcome to the 3 Minute Tryst, a 3-minute conversation series exploring sports, music, business and culture in a fun, playful and light atmosphere. This is the second part of my interview with Titans stud linebacker Rashaan Evans; the first installment dealt mainly with his time at Alabama, where he played in FOUR college football playoffs.

In the second part of our interview, Rashaan breaks down his time with the Titans, from how Derrick Henry strong armed the Titans organization to take his Alabama teammate to how Tennessee moved up to #22 in the draft to take him. Rashaan understood what it meant for Vrabel, an edge rushing linebacker, to jump up in the draft to take a player with similar linebacker DNA. Evans also discussed his dad, an Auburn RB back in the day who most resembled Alvin Kamara, and why he thinks he’s more hated in his hometown of Auburn than even A.J. Brown is in Starkville, Miss. Of course, he got put through the Rapid Fire gauntlet, where he identified Rajon Rondo’s doppelganger, whether it’s harder to chase down a horse or D.K. Metcalf, and whether women actually know what they mean when they say “go have fun.”

It was a great interview and if the Titans are going to make a run in the playoffs, Rashaan is going to have to play a HUGE role.
