Barstool Outdoors Episode 6: Slammin' Salmon In Vancouver

Go get the brand new Columbia PFG long-sleeve right now!

Salmon are a fish of great cultural importance. They have been a huge part of the culture in the Northwest for a long time and their life cycle sustains animals from so many different backgrounds. We arrived in beautiful Vancouver BC and set off to the dock which was literally right in the middle of downtown.

Captain Derek Puri of Pacific Angler Sportfishing greeted us with a smile but with bad news. No matter what the conditions, he agreed to try and make it happen. We idled out as two other boats from the same charter company were returning after barely running and turning around. I started to wonder if maybe this was a questionable choice, but since we only had one day here, I was down for whatever.

The water was pretty big, especially for Vancouver harbor, but we eventually got to the spot alive and fished in peace while we only saw one other boat the entire day. The fishing was definitely much different than what I was used to. We were trolling along using mooching reels and found our way to some gorgeous Salmon. They fought so hard and had a gorgeous coloration that I will never forget. It doesn’t hurt that there were absolutely stunning mountains in every direction and Bald Eagles flying through the air. BC is truly heaven on Earth.
