I Have No Choice But To Watch The 4 Hour HBO Documentary About Adnan From The Serial Podcast

Let’s hit the music for old time’s sake:

Variety - Sky and HBO are teaming again, this time for a documentary series about the Adnan Syed case, which inspired the popular ‘Serial’ podcast. Academy Award nominee Amy Berg (“Deliver Us from Evil”) will direct.

“The Case Against Adnan Syed” will run to four hours. Working Title TV and Instinct Productions are producing, and NBC Universal International Studios are distributing the follow-up to the case, which will play on the Sky Atlantic channel in the U.K. and in the U.S. on HBO.

The series will explore the 1999 disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Baltimore County high school student Hae Min Lee and the subsequent conviction of her ex-boyfriend, Syed. In production since 2015, the series will re-examine the events leading up to Hae Min Lee’s disappearance, the original police investigation, and the present day, when Syed awaits a new trial.

Sky said the series will present new discoveries and “ground-breaking revelations that challenge the state’s case.”

My first reaction to this was a very simple “I think I’m all Serial’d out”. But then I thought more about it and yeah…I’m pretty sure I’m going to watch this. I know too much about the case to not watch an HBO documentary about it. It’d be like eating 90% of a sandwich and then not eating the last 10% because “well I already ate most of it”. Whatever, just eat that last 10% and who knows, maybe there will be a bite with the perfect ratio of bread, cheese, meat, and condiment that will leave you more full and satisfied than you imagined you would be.

It does seem a little late to jump into a brand new, 4 hour documentary about Adnan, Jay, Hae,  and of course Christina “STEPPIN OUT” Gutierrez,

but whatever, I’m game. Let’s refresh the memory and remind ourselves THAT ADNAN IS GUILTY! THAT BITCH DID IT!  The theory I believe is Jay convinced him to do it because Jay had info on Adnan that if it got out would bring great shame to Adnan and/or his family, so Adnan did it to stop the info from coming out. It would be pretty funny if that info was some stuff that came out anyway, like how he did drugs or had sex or stole money from the mosque, but it could easily be much worse.

And maybe we’ll find out about that fucking Best Buy pay phone once and for all.

All right, I’m convinced. Bring on more Serial.
