Episode number 4 of our vlog, Out of Office. I hate to even call it a “vlog.” Or as Dave would call it, a V-Log. I know that theres a stigma attached to the word vlog. Like you expect it to be a nerdy dude holding a camera recording himself, selfie style, being like “WHATS UP YOUTUBERS?!” Thats not what we’re trying to create, so I dont want that to be in people’s minds when they go to consume this. Most people have this stereotype of Jake Paul in their head as a Vlogger the same way that people used to view a blogger as a fat slob in their mom’s basement. The same way that people had preconceived notions of what podcasts were. Barstool came along and changed the perception of those things, right? A blog was no longer a nerdy diary of a loser, its just a funny website putting out all the hilarious shit you want to read, watch and listen to. Podcasts went from being a small niche form of entertainment to the most prevalent way to make your commute bearable. Podcasts were for nerds, by nerds. Until everyone realized that A) we’re all a little bit nerdy, and B) they are just your favorite personalities making on demand audio programs that are extremely, extremely convenient entertainment.

So my point here is that Barstool has always adopted these mediums, and these trends, and these movements, and put their own twist on it. Our twist. The regular dude twist. And next up is vlogs. Out of Office is our new, regularly scheduled video series of us getting out there and doing stuff. Aptly named from the cube monkey world when you get away from your desk and get away from your work existence, and giving the viewer our regular type of commentary we’ve been giving on all the other platforms we’ve been operating on for the last decade. I truly, genuinely, whole heartedly believe this is the next big wave for Barstool the same way podcasts were. For 2 reasons, 1) Brendan told me so. When he tells me to do something, I do it. Usually like 2 years too late, but I do it. If everyone listened to him right when he first speaks up we’d be worth like 10x more. He’s been in on the Casey Neistat’s of the world and pushing the idea of vlog content on me since like 2016, 2017 and the time is finally right to implement it because…2) We’ve got Logan AKA Vlogan executing the video side of things, and he is a motherfucking monster. Not since Milmore have I hired a guy who has shown this type of talent and skill when it comes to this sort of behind the scenes production.

Those 2 guys have shown me the light when it comes to the future of content and video programming, and they’ve shown me the power of Youtube. I’ve seen a few Stoolies busting my balls being like “Oh wow this new thing called “YOUTUBE!” And I understand we are not exactly on the cutting edge of the Youtube sensation. But better late than never and I’m putting the full court press on the powers that be to try to convince them that Youtube is where Barstool can create their own TV channel. The exact same way we have one giant umbrella of Barstool and then under that we have individual podcasts that exist to form a gigantic juggernaut of audio content, I want to replicate the exact same thing for video content on Youtube.  The statistics we’ve seen from just a few weeks are bananas. A “View” on Youtube is a minimum of 30 seconds as opposed to the social platforms which are either 3 seconds, or instantaneous. And so we’ve seen tens of thousands of people who are truly watching and consuming, with completion rates for very long videos that are almost unheard of. The writing is on the wall that this should be the next big thing for Barstool. So get on board with us now as we fuck around and do interesting shit all summer long. The more views we get, the more interaction we see, the more feedback we receive, the more I’ll be able to prove that this truly is the next podcasts for Barstool. The better chance that you’ll get all of your favorite Barstool personalities churning out video series like these. The better chance we have at taking an ENORMOUS step towards the moon.
