Tiger Catches Fire And Shoots A 65 On Moving Day At The Players Championship

Well that was fun. Tiger Woods just shot a 7-under 65 at The Players Championship. His lowest round ever at the tournament and he could’ve gone even lower. The course record at TPC Sawgrass is 63 and that was well within his reach for most of the round. Nobody, and I mean nobody, saw that coming. He almost missed the cut! He’s be almost missing cuts for like a month now. It’s been very frustrating to watch. The only reason Tiger made the cut is because both Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth made bogey on 18 yesterday. The cut line was sitting at -2 until late late late Friday. Then JT and Spieth made bogey, the cut line moved to -1 and our guy was playing the weekend.

He took advantage of that opportunity to say the least. He made a CHARGE. He birdied 8 holes of the first 12 holes. He needed only 11 putts through the first 9 holes. It was awesome. He was rolling. He faded a bit on the back 9 with a bogey at 14 and a handful of pars but overall, still awesome.

The haters will say Tiger played well because there was zero pressure. That’s fine. Whatever. Maybe that’s partially true. I don’t actually care about that. I care that Tiger now knows he can go that low if he wants. Even if it was on a Saturday where he teed off at 9am with Mackenzie Hughes. It’s all mental. He can still play really really really well when everything is working.

Boner time

Here’s to hoping Webb Simpson shoots an 85 but he probably won’t
