Let's Take A Look At Some Spoiler-Free Reactions From The Premiere of 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'
Last night, ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ premiered in Los Angeles, California, and the folks who saw it were allowed to talk about it immediately, so the internet is now chock full of their reactions. These circumstances were the same for Rian Johnson’s ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ back in December, of course, and kicked the insanely polarizing film’s buzz off to a great start when critics were (and still are) in agreement that Johnson made one of the best flicks the franchise has ever seen, but just because this process is becoming routine for Disney/Lucasfilm, doesn’t mean it isn’t cocky as shit. Studios only do this when they’re confident in the movie they’re promoting to garner great word of mouth. It’s something Warner Bros NEVER allows to happen for DC films, and unfortunately, something 20th Century Fox isn’t allowing to happen for ‘Deadpool 2′. Always a bad sign.
Let’s take a look at what the people are saying:
Alright, so pretty positive. Nowhere near as positive as ‘The Force Awakens’, ‘Rogue One’, or ‘The Last Jedi’, but positive nonetheless. General consensus seems to be that the first act is super slow, and it takes a bit to get used to Alden as Han, but once everything gets going, it’s a fun ride. I’ve seen nothing but over-the-top positive things about Donald Glover as Lando, as expected, and NOTHING that makes me think this is gonna be some kind of catastrophic blow to the Han Solo (or Chewbacca) character. The only thing that worries me is that this apparently sets up multiple Han Solo movies in the future, but I’ll reserve my judgement about that until I see this one. I hope I come out of the theater on May 24th and go, “Holy shit I need more Han Solo spinoff movies!” but I’m just not sure I will.

I am coming around just a bit on this movie though, because after watching Ron Howard run through him IMDb page I was reminded of just how much I love that man and want him to succeed. So I hope ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ rules. And you should too.
P.S. Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the swagger of Billy Dee Williams and Donald Glover?
God damn.
