MMANYTT- Speaking on the UFC Unfiltered podcast earlier today, White confirmed that the UFC are targeting a lightweight bout between St-Pierre and Diaz. He also confirmed the rumours surrounding a potential fight between Luke Rockhold and Alexander Gustafsson which will take place at 205-pounds.

“It is true and they would fight at 155-pounds,” White said regarding St-Pierre vs Diaz. “There are rumours, what did I see? That we were doing Gustafsson and Rockhold, that is true, but that’s not for the interim title, that’s false. It might be LA, I’m targeting LA.”

“In my perfect world, if everything goes perfect, and nothing ever goes perfect in this world, [it will be] Dillashaw vs Garbrandt, GSP vs Diaz would be the co-main, Gustafsson vs Rockhold and Brunson vs Antonio Carlos Jr. It’s very interesting.”

Obviously we’re gonna take this with a grain of salt because it’s coming from Dana White, but holy moly if even one of these gets booked I’ll lose my shit. Well, actually that’s probably just if St-Pierre vs Diaz gets booked, but I mean, I’ll be excited for Rockhold/Gustafsson too I guess. The Mauler taking Rockhold’s head off with an uppercut in the very first round would allow me to get a real good night’s sleep so there’s nothing not to love about that.

Georges St-Pierre vs Nate Diaz sounds like such a war I’m surprised it can be legally sanctioned in the year of our lord 2018. LO fuckin’ L at Dana White even suggesting that this would ever co-main event a card. I don’t care if a title’s on the line or not, I promise you that neither Nate Diaz nor GSP are fighting before anyone else unless their name is Conor, and speaking of him – this certainly seems like a fight with the Irishman in mind.

I think at this point, after the dolly-tossing incident (where McGregor allegedly tossed a dolly through the window of a bus even though video evidence would suggest it slipped), Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is probably next for McGregor, but the winner (or even possibly the loser) of this one would get the next crack at him after that depending on who gets their hands raised in each respective bout. I think in the event that GSP beats Diaz and McGregor beats Khabib, you do that superfight for the title, but if Conor comes up short against the Eagle, you complete the trilogy with Diaz whether or not he beat St-Pierre. If Diaz beats GSP and Conor beats Khabib, that’s obviously then the biggest fight on the planet so you have to set that up. No matter what combination of those things happen, we’re in for some wonderful acts of violence.

UFC 224 this Saturday feels like the last day of school now more than ever. We tread through one more card full of fights that make you question why you shelled out $65 for the pay-per-view and then we’re onto the Summer, which already has Robert Whittaker vs Yoel Romero, Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier, TJ Dillashaw vs Cody Garbrandt, Max Holloway vs Brian Ortega, Rafael Dos Anjos vs Colby Covington, Francis Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis, Joseph Benevidez vs Sergio Pettis, Alistair Overeem vs Curtis Blaydes, and THE RETURN OF CM PUNK in store for us!
