Alden Ehrenreich Is Apparently Signed On To Play Han Solo In Three Movies

Vanity Fair- Ehrenreich said that he had never expressed concerns about their filmmaking style to Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy, and addressed another set of rumors head-on. For months, it’s been reported that the actor struggled to effectively mimic Ford—to the point where Lucasfilm, allegedly concerned about his performance, ushered in a coach to coax out a better one. This, according to the actor, has been blown out of proportion. The “coach” in question was writer-director Maggie Kiley, he said: “She was part of conversations that happened for a couple weeks at one point, but that was basically it.” Lord and Miller also told Esquire that Kiley is someone they’ve worked with before, and that she was brought on as a resource for themselves and the entire cast—not just Ehrenreich.

So, there’s Ehrenreich‘s first go-round with the Star Wars rumor mill. But he didn’t make it through without mussing things up just a bit: in his interview, the actor also revealed that he is contractually signed up for three movies, information that was previously under wraps. “I don’t know if that’s officially, uh, public. But—yeah,” he said. Oh well; that’s not the worst spoiler in the galaxy.

I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

Vanity Fair published an interview with Alden Ehrenreich last week regarding the rumors surrounding production disasters on ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, and towards the end of the article, dropped the little nugget that the actor playing a young Han Solo has signed on for two more films after this one. Kinda buried the lead with the whole, “No I didn’t need an acting coach” story, huh?

Obviously being signed-on to play the scruffy-looking nerf herder in three movies doesn’t mean he will, and it could just be a precautionary measure they go through with all of their actors to lock them down in case they’d like to use them, but I’m gonna be pretty upset if that isn’t the case. I’ve made it no secret that I’m not too thrilled about ‘Solo’ as a film, not only because I think the mystique behind Han’s backstory has always added something cool to the character that over-explaining may take away, but because who wants to see anyone but Harrison Ford in that role??? Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for spinoff films in the Star Wars universe and don’t believe in “Star Wars fatigue”…I just think Luke, Leia, and Han should be left alone from now on. They’re too sacred not to be. ‘Rogue One’ proved that Disney/Lucasfilm doesn’t have to rely on established characters for a good movie or a box office success, as the name of the franchise is as big a draw as anyone from it, so keep doing shit like that! Or give us ‘Lando: A Star Wars Story’ with Glover in that role, because I feel like that’s really all anyone wants to see from this one.

I’ll still be first in line for ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ on opening night, and I’ll give it as fair a shot as I could (I really do hope it’s great), but I’m treating this one with a bit of a ‘guilty until proven innocent’ mentality. Sorry Ron Howard. Still love ya.

P.S. How about the most recent trailer for the film ending on a “WILL CHEWBACCA DIE?!” cliffhanger?

Uhhh, no? He won’t. I’m positive of that. As made evident by all of the Star Wars movies that take place after this one.

P.P.S. If this is Chewbacca’s wife Malla from the Star Wars Holiday Special all sins will be forgiven.
