Just Let Bygones Be Bygones: The Passengers of Flight 1308 Who Almost Died Receive a $5,000 Check For Their Troubles And a $1,000 Travel Voucher! Wow!
Southwest Airlines is giving passengers on board the disastrous flight which saw a woman die when she was sucked out of the window this week $5,000 each and a $1,000 travel voucher. The airline’s CEO Gary Kelly sent a letter to the 142 passengers who survived, apologizing for the ‘circumstances’ which surrounded the flight and offering their help reuniting them with luggage.
No blame has been assigned to the airline for the engine explosion which sent a piece of shrapnel flying through the window next to Jennifer Riordan. It caused the window to smash and Riordan, a 43-year-old mother-of-two was partially sucked through the hole in the plane and died as a result. Investigators are still probing what caused the explosion and the plane had been tested for safety just three days before the catastrophe. In its letter, Southwest Airlines pointed to the ongoing National Transport Safety Board investigation into the incident but said its priority was assisting the traumatized survivors.
Oh hey guys sorry about the near life-ending ordeal you had to go through because our engine exploded, hopefully this is enough to help you get through the never ending trauma you’ll endure for the rest of your lives! Tex and Hank got like $5,000 for fighting in Rough N Rowdy. Five thousand dollars and a one thousand dollar travel voucher is the biggest slap in the face ever to these passengers. First of all, who the fuck is going to use that travel voucher? If anyone is brave enough to fly again after being on that plane they sure as hell won’t be flying Southwest, thus rendering that voucher useless. Next is of course the lump sum of $5k that every passenger is receiving. There are reports out there saying each person is looking at around $250,00 after lawyers get involved and go after Southwest for everything possible. Five grand is a fucking joke.
When I saw they got a check for just $5,000 for enduring a near-fatal plane crash my jaw dropped. Just the thought of oxygen masks being deployed from the ceiling is enough to give me nightmares and trauma for the rest of my life. Then we’re throwing in a woman being halfway sucked out of a window and having to just helplessly watch as you think the plane is going to be in ashes in near minutes. People calling their loved ones saying their good byes. I cannot imagine having to be someone that thinks it’s actually all over and he or she only has precious seconds to say a few words to your family. Those lawyers are about to go to town and I hope this slap in the face $5,000 check further fuels the fire.
