Happy Monday, 6-Year-Old Blue Ivy Bid $19,000 On A Piece Of Art Over The Weekend

AOL- JAY-Z supervised Blue Ivy’s bids and seemed to reign her in when the stakes rose to $20,000. You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, when to fold ’em, when to walk away and so on. This didn’t look like Blue Ivy’s first time bidding on expensive art and most likely won’t be her last. Ultimately, Tyler Perry won the piece. Blue Ivy didn’t leave the gala empty-handed, however. She won a piece by artist Samuel Levi Jones for a more modest sum of $10,000.

There are times in my life where I think I’m doing alright. Current day is one of those times. I just turned 29. I’m surviving in New York City when I had never lived in a big city before. I’ve lost 35+ pounds and am the healthiest I’ve been in decades. My job is cool. Tiger is back. Its ‘ll going pretty okay at the moment. And then something happens that makes me realize I’m not doing shit. 6-Year-old Blue Ivy bidding $19,000 on a piece of art made me feel like a pile of failure. That’s tough news to read on a Monday morning. It has less to do with Blue Ivy and more to do with Jay Z and Beyonce. Think about how successful they are. They’re so successful that they spend their spare time letting their young daughter bid THOUSANDS of dollars at an art gala. That’s mother fucking success right there.

What is Blue Ivy gonna be like when she grows up? I feel like that isn’t gonna go all that well. You don’t bid on expensive art at a gala before your 7th birthday and then become a normal functioning member of society. It just doesn’t work that way. Jay Z and Beyonce are two people who came from nothing and became uber successful. They seem extremely well adjusted for two people who basically run the world. I’m rooting for Blue but we’ve seen it go sideways time and time again when someone is handed tons of money and fame. Congrats on her new piece of art though.
